Technical Standards and Patents

If you are looking for Technical Standards, a good place to start is the British Standards Institute Electronic Catalogue. Here you can see a synopsis of any British Standard that takes your fancy.  Click here to go to British Standards Institute

U.S. Standards can be accessed and purchased at the ANSI Electronic Standards Store and a larger collection of U.S and global standards at the National Resource for Global Standards (NSSN). Click here for ANSI!

For standards relating to other countries, a good place to start is the World Standard Services Network - a network of publicly accessible Webservers of standards organisations around the world.

At the web site of the International Organization for Standardization you'll find a full account of the ISO's efforts to harmonize global standards and a complete on-line catalogue of International Standards.

The Intellectual Property Network (IPN) lets you search and view patent documents from the U.S. and Europe as well as patent applications published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Human ingenuity is unbounded. For a taste of the strange and wonderful, try IBM's Gallery of Obscure Patents. For more strangeness, check out another patent site: The Wacky Patent of the Month!
